I was simply snooping around the horse sale ads on Drafts for Sale, and when I opened Kauboi's ad, my jaw dropped open. Here was exactly what we had been looking for, and they were willing to trade. It seemed that we had exactly what they needed- a snowmobile- that hadn't been being used for quite awhile. After a few very long phone conversations, plans were made to travel out to the Black Hills to make the exchange.
Kauboi had extensive training for use as a mounted patrol horse, he also was used for novice lessons, and enjoyed going trail riding. Kauboi had always been reliable and would even go out alone without issue. His height suits Jim perfectly, he doesn't look odd when he is astride Kauboi.
Despite having a serious issue with his back, Jim couldn't resist getting on Kauboi and taking him for a test ride. The smile on Jims face told the story, it was a match made in heaven. Kauboi loaded easily into our trailer and was a perfect gentleman all the way home. He is in a pen next to the paddock where the others are, but he has shown no aggression of any kind towards them. In fact, he pretty much ignores them, especially if any one of us is there. Kauboi is very people orientated and gentle, which thrills me because I want Jim to have a great riding horse.
