This page is dedicated to Cledus, a remarkable gelding!

As a parent of a child who has a chronic illness, we wanted Casey to have the safest horse possible. At first we thought that may be Pepsi, but soon it became obvious that Cledus and Casey shared a connection. They have never had any formal training other than what we can provide, but they enjoy each other immensly!

Casey (at age 7) nursed Cledus (only 6 months) through a horrible bout of Bastard Strangles. He eventually had a short stay at the Stillwater Equine Hospital in Minnesota; where they surgically opened up the abccess and created some drainage paths. It was as scary of an event that any of us want to experience, but Casey saw him through it. Now, Cledus watches out for her. He can sense when she is overly tired and not feeling her best. He is gentle and calm, but becomes even more so when she isn't up to snuff.

We get offers from people for Cledus, and we appreciate the interest, but he isn't for sale.....

Casey & Cledus
This photo best represents what Casey & Cledus enjoy doing, trail riding. Casey does however occasionally enjoy pulling Cledus out, cleaning him up, and head off to a show. She doesn't show to be the best, she shows to have fun, and see how much better each of them do from year to year. They have tried many different classes, and we are very proud of all of their accomplishments.
Baby Cledus
Pepsi had a very nice deep bedded shelter to have her first foal in. But of course, she waited until it was storming and had Cledus in the middle of a mud puddle.
Cledus is the same size as Dooly the St. Bernard
Cledus and Dooly were always checking each other out from their own sides of the fence. I can only imagine how much fun they'd have had if the ever decided to play with each other!
Doing the work at home
Casey learned from the beginning that if you wanted to succeed, you had to practice. Despite the hot weather we had in 2005, she got out there and put Cledus through his paces almost everyday.
Then showing at her last Dunn County Fair in Wisconsin
Casey was placed in the wrong class, but the judge admired her control and decision making so well she rewarded her with the second place ribbon.
Having a lesson in Sioux Falls, SD
We were able to send Casey & Cledus to Glory Bound Arabians near Sioux Falls, SD. She enjoyed learning from Kinsey Risty, and will take up English in the upcoming months.
Then showing at the Swiftel Center in Brookings, SD
Casey and Cledus did the best they've ever done at this show. They worked hard and it showed. Most importantly though, Casey is doing all the work with Cledus. Nobody is handing her a pre-made champion to simply be a passenger on as it goes through the paces in the ring.
Keeping up on flexing and bending
Casey knows that Cledus bores easily in an arena, so she will work with him on his skills wherever she can. Even in the front yard!

Revving up for Spring!
Despite the cold temps, the sun was shining, so Casey got Cledus out for some brushing and one on one time.

Waiting to GO!
This summer was filled with many remarkable trail rides despite the slow cold wet start..... Cledus once again was the complete package- patient, willing, and calm. Casey and Cledus absolutely enjoy their brand new saddle and soft purple cotton closed rein.
